Greco Middle School, three others in Hillsborough get new principals

TAMPA – In between speeches about Lee Elementary School and the debate to rename Lee, the Hillsborough County School Board on Thursday also approved 17 administrative assignments that included new leaders at four schools.

Andrew Olson is being transferred from Progress Village Middle Magnet School to lead Greco Middle in Temple Terrace.

For Jackson Elementary of Plant City, the district looked to Jarrod Haneline, principal of Bailey Elementary School in Dover.

Greco and Jackson are trying to improve from repeated D grades. Greco also has a large percentage of students reading at the lowest competency level measured by state tests.

Haneline said he envisions a number of changes at Jackson, including perhaps its name. The school is named for Confederate general Stonewall Jackson.

Jackson‘s current principal, Michelle McClellan, will take over Springhead Elementary, also in Plant City. She will replace Springhead principal Ann Rushing, who will move to Lincoln Elementary, a Plant City magnet.

The changes take effect after Thanksgiving.
